Tiko community came together for a powerful event organized by The Encourager Association (TEA) in collaboration with LIFFAFA and Victory Christian Church.
Titled “NO TO DRUG ABUSE,” the campaign blended education, sports, and health advocacy to address the growing concerns around substance abuse and mental well-being.

With 170 attendees and the support of sponsors like Soly Consultancy, the event left a lasting impression on participants of all ages.
Kicking Off with Purpose The day began at 11 AM with an opening speech by Khan, who introduced TEA’s mission to empower youth and families through education, mentorship, and community-driven initiatives.
He emphasized the organization’s commitment to tackling drug abuse, a pressing issue affecting Likomba Tiko and beyond.
Following this, representatives from LIFFAFA Research Foundation took the stage to shed light on the often-overlooked link between drug abuse and mental health.

Their talk resonated deeply, highlighting how substance misuse exacerbates anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Attendees were urged to seek help, support peers, and prioritize mental wellness as a cornerstone of community health.

Sports, Unity, and Healthy Competition At 12:30 PM, the event shifted gears with a spirited football match symbolizing teamwork and resilience.
Children took to the field first, playing an energetic 60 minutes game that showcased talent and camaraderie. Adults followed suit, keeping the momentum alive with a friendly yet competitive match.
Coaches later addressed the crowd, linking sports discipline to life choices and emphasizing the importance of staying drug-free.
Health First: Malaria Testing and BP Screenings Parallel to the activities, a health outreach initiative provided free malaria testing and blood pressure screenings.

Nurses on-site attended to dozens of participants, offering critical health insights and preventive advice. For many, this was a rare opportunity to access vital medical services, reinforcing the event’s holistic approach to community well-being.
Gratitude and Forward Momentum The event closed with heartfelt acknowledgments to Soly Consultancy for their sponsorship and Sebastian Amabo Enderly for his seamless coordination. Volunteers, speakers, and partners were celebrated for their roles in making the day a success.

A Step Toward a Brighter Future With 190 attendees engaged in dialogue, sports, and health advocacy, the “NO TO DRUG ABUSE” campaign proved the power of collective action.
The Encourager Association and its partners demonstrated that education, empathy, and community solidarity can pave the way for lasting change.

As Pastor Nelson and Sebastian Amabo Enderly gave remarked in their closing words: “Today is not an end, but a beginning. Let’s carry this momentum forward, one conversation, one game, and one healthy choice at a time.”
Stay tuned for more initiatives from TEA and partners as they continue to uplift Likomba Tiko and champion a drug-free, mentally resilient community.
